Learn to rewire your brain with purposeful mantras by repeating truths and aspirations.

At UNC we integrated mantras into our training regimen, before walking on the field, before taking a free kick, or whenever doubt crept in.  It was used to strengthen our mental capacities, to build resilience, and fortify our focus.

If repeated regularly, eventually you’ll rewire the brain with your mantra. You’ll learn that your conscious thoughts can be powerful forces in helping you unlock your potential and meet your goals.

When should you repeat or use your mantra?

First Thing in the Morning:
Right after you wake up, your mind is clear, and your subconscious is still highly active. This is the perfect time to set the tone for your day. Repeating your mantra during your morning routine helps you align your mindset with your goals and values.

Before Training or Competition: This is when you need to ground yourself in your strengths and prepare for the challenges ahead. A mantra like, I am competitive and focused. This game means more to me than it does to them, can sharpen your mental edge and boost your confidence.

During Moments of Stress or Doubt: When you feel overwhelmed, repeating your mantra can help you refocus and regain control. It’s a mental reset button that reminds you of your capabilities and keeps you anchored in the present .

Before Bed: Reflecting on your day and repeating your mantra before sleep reinforces your belief in your abilities and aspirations. It’s a way to end the day on a positive note and prime your mind for success the next day.

During Visualization Exercises: When you’re mentally rehearsing success, pairing your visualization with your mantra strengthens the connection between your thoughts and actions. It’s about creating a mental environment where success feels inevitable.
